Edith Humble (Odissi)

Edith Humble started learning Odissi in 2003, from Ulrika Larsen in Stockholm, trained in India by late guru Ramani Ranjan Jena. After a few years of intitial training Edith continued her dance studies with a scholarship from ICCR (Indian Council of Cultural Relations) at Shriram Bharatiya Kalakendra in New Delhi 2007-2008. There, her Odissi classes were taught by Priyambada Pattnaik from Nrityagram, and Edith was also learning Mayurbhanj Chhau from Padma Shri guru Janme Joy Sai Babu. Apart from performing Odissi and Chhau both insida and outside the Kendra, she was also taking part in and touring together with the Kendra's dance dramas, such as Ramlila and others, both as a group dancer and playing solo roles, under guidance by guru Shashidharan Nair.

Since 2010 Edith is yearly taking part in advanced Odissi dance workshops in UK lead by Padma Shri Madhavi Mugdal and Padma Shri Sujata Mohapatra, world celebrated diciples of late Padma Vibushan guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. For 6 months in 2013 and 2014 Edith was training at Orissa Dance Academy in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and in 2015 she was touring around New Delhi together with UK based Devika Dance Theatre. The spring 2019 she was privately trained intensily by Padma Shri Sujata Mohapatra in Baleswar and Bhubaneswar in Odisha.
